Budget 2027 Increases Active Rukun Tetangga Grant by 66.7%

Hanoi:National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang announced that the annual Active Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) Grant will rise from RM6,000 to RM10,000 starting in 2027, marking the first adjustment in 13 years.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 66.7% increase, revealed in Budget 2027, signifies the MADANI Government's dedication to fostering community unity, security, and grassroots development. Aaron noted that the grant has enabled KRTs to organize over 100,000 activities nationwide last year.

Aaron emphasized that this increase is a significant milestone for Rukun Tetangga, recognizing the efforts of KRT members in promoting unity and community development. The grant has seen three major rate changes over the years, from RM4,800 in 2008 to RM6,000 in 2013, and now to RM10,000 in 2027.

He highlighted that KRTs are vital in enhancing local security, economic development, and social resilience. Community economic projects under KRT can generate income and support local entrepreneurs, benefiting residents through welfare activities.

Aaron also remarked that the government's allocation to KRTs is an investment in social welfare, delivering tangible benefits to the community.

In addition, Budget 2027 includes provisions for equipment and gear to reinforce the Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS), enhancing the effectiveness of community patrols. Aaron stated that SRS is a key component of community security, driven by volunteerism and cooperation with security agencies.

SRS volunteers play a crucial role in maintaining public order and addressing local security risks, acting as the community's eyes and ears. The National Unity Ministry is committed to ensuring that the increased grants and SRS support lead to impactful programs and accountable management for the benefit of residents.
