Kuala lumpur: The government will place greater emphasis on addressing the people's cost-of-living issues more comprehensively in Budget 2027, taking into account the unsettled global geopolitical situation, said MADANI Government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil. Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, noted that the budget preparations would also consider various external factors, including movements in global crude oil prices.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi emphasized that the focus of Budget 2027 will be to ensure that cost-of-living issues are comprehensively addressed, considering the ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. He highlighted that factors such as crude oil prices, which serve as vital economic benchmarks, will be among the considerations for the upcoming budget.

Fahmi shared these insights with reporters after launching the 2026 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) X JAGO programme for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at Taman Seri Sentosa Market. The event was also attended by the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Information Department director, Normaizatulakmal Tujad.

In addition to addressing cost-of-living concerns, Fahmi stated that Budget 2027 would prioritize projects designed to swiftly resolve public issues, attract both domestic and international investments, and support the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan. For the Communications Ministry, expanding internet access in remote areas is a key priority.

He further mentioned that the ministry is exploring media sustainability issues and considering incentives to attract international events and film productions to Malaysia. Incentives like CIME (Concerts and Events in Malaysia Incentive) and FIMI (Filming in Malaysia Incentive) are under discussion to draw more investors, as communicated by the Finance Ministry.
