Budget 2027’s Allocation to Boost Malaysia’s Water Infrastructure Sector

Kuala Terengganu:The RM2.5 billion allocated to the national non-revenue water (NRW) programme under Budget 2027 is anticipated to drive demand for water infrastructure products, as Malaysia intensifies efforts to replace old pipelines across the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Dr Teh Kim Poo, founder and managing director of Resintech Bhd, expressed support for the initiative, which aims to replace 1,900 kilometers of ageing water pipes nationwide. He stated that the government's funding is a positive step for Malaysia's water infrastructure sector and is expected to stimulate demand for piping systems and related products as projects move forward.

In addition to the pipe replacement initiative, Budget 2027 includes plans to enhance water supply infrastructure in Kelantan and develop sewerage infrastructure in Kuala Terengganu. Furthermore, the government has earmarked RM3.3 billion for rural basic infrastructure, including clean water supply, potentially opening more opportunities for companies involved in water infrastructure development.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Resintech Bhd reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Malaysia's infrastructure development while exploring sustainable growth opportunities in both domestic and regional markets. The company plans to closely monitor the implementation of Budget 2027 initiatives and assess relevant opportunities in alignment with its business strategy.
