Kuala lumpur: The Penang branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has confirmed that there have been no violations at any petrol stations in the state since the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) targeted subsidy initiative was introduced. Its director, S. Jegan, stated that ongoing daily inspections at over 200 petrol stations have not uncovered any fraudulent measurements of RON95 petrol.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jegan revealed that there have been 12 complaints related to BUDI95 since last month, with three complaints lodged this month. However, these complaints are primarily related to technical issues or confusion within the system, rather than misconduct by the petrol stations themselves. At a press conference at Pasar Chowrasta, Jegan also addressed consumer concerns regarding discrepancies between the amount of petrol dispensed and the amount paid for, reassuring the public that daily inspections by enforcement teams, including tests of petrol measuring instruments, are being conducted to ensure accuracy.

In addition to the BUDI95 initiative, Jegan highlighted that KPDN is closely monitoring the price of essential goods, particularly vegetables and seafood, ahead of the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) season. With the anticipated reduction in supply during this period, he warned traders against excessively raising prices. Jegan stated that as the monsoon begins, supplies of fish and fresh vegetables may decrease, which could lead to a slight price increase. KPDN will remain vigilant, inspecting wet markets, retail outlets, and wholesalers to ensure that traders do not exploit consumers during this period.

The 2025/2026 MTL season is expected to begin on Friday, November 13, and last until March next year. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) anticipates five to seven episodes of continuous heavy rainfall throughout the monsoon.
