Kuala lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that the 300-litre quota for recipients of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy was renewed today. The MADANI Government spokesman said the matter was in line with the renewal of the BUDI95 quota on the first day of every month.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, even though recipients bought RON95 using BUDI95 yesterday, their quota is back to 300 litres today. Fahmi stated this at a press conference following the Cabinet meeting. He added that the Communications Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and petrol station operating companies would issue statements if any incorrect information or confusion about the subsidy program arises.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also directed the Transport Ministry to address issues related to BUDI95, such as increasing quotas for e-hailing, p-hailing, taxi, and fishing boat drivers. Fahmi mentioned there would be a specific mechanism to assist drivers or Malaysians with a Singapore driving license in accessing the BUDI95 subsidy.
He further noted that the Finance Ministry is expected to release a statement on the latest status of the BUDI95 implementation later today. The subsidy program began on September 27, initially targeting 300,000 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police. It was then expanded to over five million recipients within the Sumbang Tunai Rahmah (STR) in the B40 category.
A total of 16 million Malaysians aged 16 and above, possessing a MyKad and an active driving license, are eligible for the RON95 petrol subsidy at RM1.99 per litre, with each individual entitled to up to 300 litres per month. The Ministry of Finance had previously announced that the retail price of RON95 petrol without subsidy is set at RM2.60 per litre from September 30 to October 8.
