Bukit Aman To Refer Investigation Paper On Zara Qairina’s Death To AGC Tomorrow

Bukit aman: The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will refer the investigation paper on the death of student Zara Qairina Mahathir to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) tomorrow. Its director Datuk M Kumar stated that this step is necessary to obtain advice on further investigative actions by the Bukit Aman CID special task force managing the case.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 195 witnesses, including students, teachers, medical officers, wardens, security guards, and parents, have provided their statements. The police investigation is concentrating on two primary aspects: the inquest and potential criminal conduct, such as bullying and the dissemination of fake news. The public has been urged not to speculate or stir sentiments that could lead to disharmony.

Kumar assured that the investigation is being conducted thoroughly and transparently, without shielding any involved parties. Zara Qairina was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17, after being admitted a day earlier. The Form One student was discovered unconscious in a drain near the dormitory of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar at 4 am on July 16.
