Bukit payong: A total of 538 flood evacuees at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Payong temporary relief centre here were forced to relocate after the area was inundated.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu Social Welfare Department (JKM) director Mazura Ngah Abd Manan stated that the flood victims were moved to SK Wakaf Tapai and SK Paya Resak relief centres at about 7 pm today. The relocation was executed with assistance from the Kuala Terengganu police headquarters and the Civil Defence Force.

The relief centre at SK Bukit Payong, which was opened on Wednesday, had to be closed after it was flooded following continuous heavy rain throughout the day. The evacuation was carried out in stages by rescue personnel, Mazura confirmed when contacted.
