Kuala Lumpur:Bursa Malaysia remained lower by mid-morning, influenced by continued selling in key financial services and construction sectors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 10.92 points to 1,600.86 at 11 am, down from Wednesday's close of 1,611.78, despite an initial rise of 1.67 points to 1,613.45 at the opening.
On the broader market, there were 646 decliners compared to 283 gainers, with 427 counters unchanged, 1,472 untraded, and 13 suspended. The turnover was recorded at 1.50 billion shares valued at RM1.03 billion.
Among the heavyweights, CIMB dropped 13 sen to RM7.20, Gamuda fell 16 sen to RM4.92, and Hong Leong Bank decreased by 42 sen to RM21.08, with these three counters collectively reducing the composite index by 5.85 points.
YTL Power International decreased eight sen to RM5.54, Press Metal Aluminium was down seven sen to RM7.13, and Petronas Chemicals slipped six sen to RM4.16. Meanwhile, Tenaga Nasional gained 12 sen to RM12.98, and IOI Properties rose 12 sen to RM3.42.
In terms of active trades, V.S Industry increased 1.5 sen to 34 sen, Top Glove added two sen to 87.5 sen, Jaks Resources rose one sen to 18.5 sen, NationGate expanded six sen to RM1.92, while Zetrix AI slightly decreased by half a sen to 7.5 sen.
Among the top gainers, Nestle surged 78 sen to RM89.80, Chin Teck Plantations rose 26 sen to RM10.54, Binastra Corporation gained 20 sen to RM2.70, Bus Cap increased 17.5 sen to 99 sen, and KSL Holdings climbed eight sen to RM2.65.
The leading decliner was Malaysian Pacific Industries, which fell RM1.38 to RM43.82. United Plantations eased 42 sen to RM30.76, while Vitox Corporation and Kuala Lumpur Kepong each slid 38 sen to RM10.84 and RM20.72, respectively. Mi Technovation weakened by 37 sen to RM6.01.
On the index board, the FBM Mid 70 Index fell by 171.25 points to 17,582.24, the FBM Emas Shariah Index decreased by 80.45 points to 12,066.70, the FBM Emas Index dropped by 87.02 points to 12,037.93, the FBM Top 100 Index slipped by 89.65 points to 11,812.33, and the FBM ACE Index declined by 57.31 points to 5,565.07.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index fell by 1.32 points to 178.56, the Energy Index weakened by 1.04 points to 837.93, the Financial Services Index dropped by 161.02 points to 18,402.30, and the Plantation Index decreased by 87.28 points to 8,888.76.
