Cabinet Memorandum to Ban Vape to Be Tabled at Upcoming Meeting

Kuala selangor: A Cabinet Memorandum (MJM) on banning electronic cigarettes and vaping will be tabled at an upcoming Cabinet meeting. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad revealed that the ministry had presented the preliminary proposal report prepared by the expert committee at the recent Cabinet meeting.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad made a brief presentation of the proposal report, where the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Cabinet requested him to submit a Cabinet Memorandum towards banning vaping. He emphasized that the implementation of the ban is not a question of 'if', but 'when', focusing on the method, timing, and approach for its execution.

Dr Dzulkefly shared these insights with reporters following the opening of the state-level 'Jelajah Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS)' and the closing of the '2025 Jom Nak Sihat Kuala Selangor 2.0' program at the Kuala Selangor Indoor Stadium Complex. In his previous address in the Dewan Rakyat during the debate on the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13), he stated that a detailed report on the proposed vape ban was being finalized by the ministry's expert committee.

In addition to the vape ban, Dr Dzulkefly disclosed plans for Selangor to have four Wellness Hubs, with a new center under construction in Kuala Selangor. Nationally, the government aims to establish 81 Wellness Hubs by 2033, as part of health system reforms under MP13. These reforms focus on transitioning from a 'sick-care' model to a 'health-care' model, emphasizing disease prevention, primary health care, and promoting healthy living to sustain the health system. The government aspires to guide citizens in maintaining good health throughout their lives, rather than solely treating illnesses.
