Kuching: Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd's 51 per cent owned subsidiary, CMS Land Sdn Bhd, has won a RM550 million design and build contract from the Sarawak state government to develop the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching II at Muara Tebas District, Kuching, Sarawak. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Cahya Mata said the contract is inclusive of the design and construction of the entire project, encompassing the foundation, substructure, superstructure, building works, mechanical and electrical services, fit-out works, testing and commissioning.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project is slated to commence in April 2025 and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2028. The design and build contract is anticipated to be formally entered into during the second quarter of 2025.
Cahya Mata noted that potential challenges for the project are likely to stem from supply-chain issues due to global trade uncertainties. However, the company stated it is well-prepared to tackle such challenges, benefiting from the synergies provided by its key subsidiaries, including Cahya Mata Cement, its concrete business, and its construction materials and trading arm.
