Capcom Announces Release Date for Onimusha: Way Of The Sword

Osaka: Capcom Co Ltd, a developer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment, has announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the latest title in the Onimusha series, will be released on Sept 25.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the game marks the first new installment in the series in more than 20 years. It is a Japanese-inspired dark fantasy title featuring Miyamoto Musashi as its protagonist and is set in an Edo-era Kyoto transformed by malevolent clouds known as Malice.

Capcom stated that the title is being developed to appeal to a broad range of players through its sword-based action gameplay and distinctive characters. Ahead of the launch, the company released a playable demo on June 3, allowing players to experience the game's combat system, including a battle against the formidable foe Sasaki Ganryu.

Furthermore, the company has started accepting pre-orders for the title. Players who pre-order the game will receive in-game equipment as a bonus. In addition to releasing major new titles annually, Capcom is focusing on reviving intellectual properties that have not seen recent releases. The company aims to maximize corporate value by leveraging its extensive content library, including the Onimusha franchise.

The Windows version of the demo will be released at a later date. Founded in 1983, Capcom operates in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Tokyo, with its corporate headquarters located in Osaka, Japan.
