Cashless Agrobank Programme Drives Digitalisation In Kampung Warna-warna

Agrobank: Agrobank today launched the Cashless Agrobank Programme in Kampung Warna-Warna, Kuala Perlis, as part of its efforts to make cashless transactions more accessible and support the national digitalisation agenda. The programme was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Agrobank said the programme was launched to facilitate transactions via its DuitNow QR and to promote the use of digital payments among small traders and the local community. Agrobank Group president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin stated that the programme was in line with the national agenda and Bank Negara Malaysia's (BNM) efforts to expand the use of safe and efficient digital payments. 'To date, 90 percent of traders in Kampung Warna-Warna have switched to using Agrobank QR,' he added in the same statement. At the same event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also officiated Lorong Agrobank, an initiative aimed at revitalisi ng the area around Kampung Warna-Warna. According to Agrobank, the initiative includes creating two murals, upgrading several houses as well as their surrounding walls and fences, installing hawker parasols, and carrying out repairs to the children's playground. 'It is hoped that this effort will stimulate local economic activity and make Kampung Warna-Warna more attractive as an agro-tourism destination,' said Agrobank. Agrobank expressed that its combined initiative on digital payment solutions, community engagement, and local area revitalisation reflected its commitment to creating a conducive platform for economic development and supporting the growth of rural communities. 'This move reinforces Agrobank's role as a development financial institution (DFI) in modernising the agricultural ecosystem and enhancing the sustainability of the agro-community,' the bank noted. The Kampung Warna-Warna Transformation Programme Royal Project in Seberang Ramai, Kuala Perlis, is an initiative by the Perlis Islamic Rel igious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) and Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra Perlis, in collaboration with various government and corporate agencies. The programme aims to implement comprehensive improvements for the village, in line with the settlement initiative under the MAIPs 2.0 holistic distribution action plan. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also presented cash donations from MAIPs and Agrobank to 10 recipients at the event.
