Kuala lumpur: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has been assigned to review and report on improvements to the business licence application processes, specifically targeting sectors impacted by the global energy crisis. MADANI Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil highlighted that the Cabinet has scrutinized the issues surrounding business licence applications, which involve coordination across multiple agencies, departments, and ministries and were found to be excessively time-consuming.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi stated that the Chief Secretary will be responsible for evaluating and reporting back to the Cabinet on efforts to reduce bureaucratic red tape. This initiative is particularly targeted at industries and sectors struggling due to the global energy crisis. Fahmi emphasized the need for reassessing, streamlining, and simplifying processes that have been unnecessarily prolonged or deemed unreasonable.

In addition, Fahmi, who also serves as Communications Minister, mentioned that the Cabinet has received an update from Shamsul Azri regarding the work-from-home (WFH) policy for the public sector. The policy is currently in its final review stage, with an official announcement expected soon.

Fahmi noted that the implementation of the WFH policy will not be limited to Putrajaya, as the first phase will encompass several areas. He added that the Chief Secretary will provide further details and comprehensive information to the public service in due course.

Regarding the private sector, Fahmi encouraged employers to evaluate the feasibility of adopting similar work-from-home policies within their organizations.
