Nanning: From September 17 to 19, the 4th China-ASEAN Meteorological Cooperation Forum commenced in Nanning, Guangxi. Decision-makers, experts, and scholars from meteorological and hydrological departments of China and ASEAN countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia, participated in the event. Representatives from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), universities, enterprises, and research institutions were also in attendance to discuss regional meteorological cooperation and development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the forum witnessed the launch of the China-ASEAN Joint Innovation Action Initiative on Meteorological AI Model Applications. This initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between China and ASEAN countries in the realm of meteorology through the application of artificial intelligence models. The discussions focused on enhancing regional meteorological services and developing strategies to address weather-related challenges in the region.
The participating countries and organizations expressed their commitment to leveraging AI technologies to improve weather forecasting and climate monitoring. The initiative is expected to foster innovation and knowledge-sharing among the member countries, thereby enhancing their capacity to manage meteorological phenomena more effectively.
