Kota kinabalu: The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu has dismissed as disinformation recent social media claims that the Embassy of China in Malaysia issued a "strong warning" to the Sabah Government over the water supply issue.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the consulate clarified in a statement that neither the embassy nor the consulate had ever issued any so-called "warning" or "threat" to the Sabah Government, Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), or any other local authorities regarding the water supply issue. The consulate emphasized that these claims are false and reiterated that no "travel advisory" had been mentioned.
The consulate further stated its commitment to upholding the spirit of China-Malaysia friendship and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation. It emphasized the intention to strengthen practical collaboration in various sectors such as tourism, trade, and culture between China and Malaysia, as well as with Sabah specifically.
Additionally, the consulate expressed its dedication to facilitating people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation between the two nations. It urged media outlets to ensure their reporting is based on facts, thereby contributing positively to the friendly relations between both sides and avoiding the spread of unverified information that could mislead the public.
