China’s National Association For The Non-Government Healthcare Sector Explores Cross-Border Collaboration in Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) recently hosted a delegation from the Chinese Non-government Medical Institutions Association (CNMIA) consisting of 30 to 40 senior healthcare decision-makers. The delegation participated in a hospital familiarization visit from April 26 to 30, 2026. This initiative, part of the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT 2026), aimed to introduce China's largest private healthcare coordinating body to Malaysia's medical tourism ecosystem through a series of curated hospital tours and strategic discussions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the visit took place amid a period of accelerating demand from China for Malaysian healthcare services. The number of healthcare travelers from China increased significantly from 50,000 in 2021 to 121,000 in 2025. Additionally, revenue from this sector more than tripled, rising from RM54.4 million to RM200.4 million over the same period. The most significant growth occurred between 2023 and 2025, which is indicative of renewed confidence and stronger patient movement in the aftermath of the pandemic.
