Chinese New Villages To Become Tourism Attractions For Visit Malaysia 2026

Kuala Lumpur: Chinese new villages will be developed as one of the country's new tourism products ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, with various efforts underway, including upgrading infrastructure in these villages.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian Chinese New Village Secretariat chairman Khoo Poay Tiong stated that there are 613 Chinese new villages nationwide, each with its own unique history, arts, and culture. Khoo emphasized the MADANI government's goal to upgrade infrastructure in these villages and enhance them to become tourism destinations.

Khoo mentioned that transforming a Chinese new village into a tourist destination will stimulate the local economy, providing residents with opportunities to increase their income. He shared this information during a briefing to reporters.

The upgrading of facilities in these villages is being conducted with allocations from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT). Khoo, who is also the Kota Melaka MP, added that other initiatives to promote these villages as tourism destinations include a Chinese New Year village decoration competition currently being held nationwide.
