Chinese Premier Says China Eyes Stronger Cooperation With GCC, ASEAN For Interests Of Global South

Kuala Lumpur: Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Monday that China looks forward to strengthening communication and cooperation with countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to promote peace, prosperity and stability in Asia, and make positive contributions to upholding the interests of the Global South.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Li stated that the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit is an opportunity to enhance collaboration between these regions. The remarks were made during his meeting with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the crown prince of Kuwait.

The Chinese premier arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Monday to attend the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, where he emphasized China's readiness to deepen cooperation with Kuwait in various sectors, including energy, investment, green economy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence, to create more avenues for mutual benefit.

Furthermore, China has committed to collaborating with Kuwait to align the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Kuwait Vision 2035, signaling a concerted effort to strengthen strategic synergies and foster long-term partnerships.
