CIDBH, PKBM, SMART PAINTS INK MOU TO STRENGTHEN CONSTRUCTION TVET, TECHNOLOGY SHARING


KUALA LUMPUR, The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd (CIDBH), today entered into a partnership with Smart Paints (M) Sdn Bhd and the Bumiputera Contractors Association of Malaysia (PKBM).

The cooperation, signed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to collaborate in technology and expertise, to improve quality and productivity in the field of paint finishing, and develop a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme in construction.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Ahmad said that the Works Ministry is committed to this plan, which aims to empower construction TVET.

‘The ministry, through CIDB Malaysia, has produced competent skilled workers at the CIDB training centres, namely Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) and CIDB Technologies, and to date, more than 420,000 people have been successfully trained and recognised as skilled workers,’ he told reporters after the signing ceremony between CIDB
H, Smart Paints (M) Sdn Bhd and PKBM.

Also present were CIDB Malaysia chief executive Datuk Mohd Zaid Zakaria; Smart Paints (M) Sdn Bhd brand manager, Mohd Shahir Abdul Hamid and PKBM president Datuk Dr Azman Yusoff.

Meanwhile, Ahmad, in his speech, said that the collaboration between Smart Paints and CIDBH includes Smart Paints providing paint machines and products to Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM), to guide ABM trainees in painting techniques and machine operation, as well as guiding them to become entrepreneurs and on a Smart Paints painter panel.

‘The collaboration between CIDBH and PKBM is to share expertise and technology to improve the quality of skills training, apart from encouraging participation among PKBM members in the relevant programmes.

‘In addition, the collaboration between Smart Paints and ???? is to create a business network as a programme vendor, and to be a business, marketing and related agent, as well as giving contractors the opportunity to be on a contractor panel for Smart Paints
projects,’ he said.

At the event, Ahmad also launched the Smart Paints ‘Smart Malaysia – NegaraKu, Jenamaku’ campaign, as an effort to support local products using environmentally-friendly technology. This initiative is in line with the commitment towards compliance with the principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG).
