Kota kinabalu: The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia (CILTM) Sabah and Korridor Utility Sabah (KUS) have emphasized the necessity of close collaboration and coordination to enhance utility planning as a core component of Sabah's infrastructure, logistics, and development agenda.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, CILTM Sabah chairman Daniel Doughty stated that through strategic cooperation, both organizations aim to ensure utilities are synchronized with roadworks, industrial zones, urban expansion, and logistics hubs. This approach is intended to minimize duplication, prevent delays, and deliver cohesive, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure that supports Sabah's long-term growth.
Doughty expressed that the establishment of KUS marks a significant step in transforming Sabah's future planning. He highlighted that well-planned utilities are crucial for powering industries, connecting communities, and enhancing logistics efficiency. He also noted that CILTM Sabah is committed to leveraging its pool of Sabahan experts to support KUS in developing smarter, stronger, and future-ready infrastructure.
CILTM Sabah boasts a wide network of professionals, resource persons, and subject matter experts ready to collaborate with KUS to improve utility planning processes, ensuring alignment with logistics and transport requirements. Doughty also pointed out that the formal establishment of Koridor Utiliti Sabah Sdn Bhd (KUSSB) occurred on March 2 following a joint venture agreement between Qhazanah Sabah Bhd (QSB) and Karisma Utiliti Borneo Sdn Bhd.
Under this agreement, KUSSB is tasked with coordinating, planning, regulating, and managing utility infrastructure development across Sabah under a one-stop agency (OSA) model. This partnership aims to reinforce integrated planning, treating utilities as a central driver of development to foster a robust, competitive, and people-centered economy.
The collaboration was further discussed during a courtesy call by CILTM Sabah, represented by Doughty, former president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Malaysia Datuk Dr. Ramli Amir, and CILTM Sabah member Alan Wong, to KUS general manager Joharin Zanudin. Zanudin briefed the delegation on the corporation's mandate and direction.
