Civil servants told to adapt to changes for better public service

Civil Service Commission Chairperson Karlo Nograles on Monday emphasized the need for government employees to adapt to the new normal to usher in the future aspirations of the country. ‘We must be agile in the face of changes in the workplace, dynamic in our policies to address client demands, and flexible to ensure continuity in the delivery of public services amid any disruption,’ said Nograles in his video message to country’s 1.8 million civil servants to mark the country’s 125th anniversary of Independence Day. ‘Ito ay mga kongkretong paraan upang maipakita natin ang pagpapahalaga sa kabayanihan ng mga nakipaglaban para sa ating tinatamasang kasarinlan (These are concrete ways to show our appreciation to the heroism of those who fought for the freedom that we are enjoying today),’ he added. As civil servants, he said the challenge now is to embrace change and adjust to new realities as the country strives “to build back and live a better normal”. He noted that one of the major challenges nowadays is addressing the need towards digital transformation, vowing that the CSC will work tirelessly to promote the professional development of the government workforce. ‘I will champion learning and development programs designed to reinforce digital literacy skills. Ito ay para walang mapag-iwanan sa patuloy na pagsulong ng teknolohiya, at angkop na magamit ito sa paghahatid ng serbisyo publiko (In this way, no one will be left behind in the continuing advancement of technology, and will be use appropriately in the delivery of public service),’ Nograles said.
