Kuala lumpur: Malaysia's multi-ethnic society, including its large Chinese population, is among the key factors boosting bilateral tourism, following the implementation of a mutual visa-free policy, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Describing Malaysia as a uniquely beautiful country, he said the cultural connections, coupled with Malaysia's vibrant economic growth and political stability, created a welcoming environment for Chinese tourists.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his views during an interview with Chinese broadcaster CGTN's anchor Zheng Junfeng on the sidelines of his recent working visit to China. He emphasized that those who have not visited Malaysia are missing out on a welcoming and beautiful country. Anwar also highlighted Malaysia's unique position as a maritime nation that offers year-round attractions, from mountains to beaches.
Anwar noted, 'We have beautiful beaches, but the difference is that you can swim any time of the year. There's no winter, it's always like summer throughout the year,' underscoring the country's inviting climate for tourists.
Moving beyond tourism, Anwar praised China's remarkable progress in modernizing its agricultural sector during the interview. He mentioned that Malaysia was keen on learning from China's experience in mechanization, modern farming, and sustainable practices as key drivers to improve productivity and farmer welfare.
Anwar stated, 'In China, not only farming, but every single field has shown phenomenal progress that you can share. We are focusing quite a bit because some of the areas, for example, rural rice farmers, happen to be the most poverty stricken, and we need to do more,' highlighting Malaysia's commitment to enhancing its agricultural practices.
