Cloud Seeding Operations Successfully Induce Rain in Melaka and Johor

Melaka: Cloud seeding operations conducted in Melaka and Johor from Monday until today have successfully generated significant rainfall in several targeted areas. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that daily rainfall ranging from two to 24 millimetres was recorded in Melaka, while Johor experienced rainfall between five and 40 millimetres.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also chairs the Central Disaster Management Committee, detailed that the operation was executed at eight dams and two water treatment plants in Melaka on Monday and Tuesday, before moving to Johor on subsequent days. In Johor, the focus was on key dam catchment areas, including Machap, Upper Layang, Lower Layang, Pulai, and Lebam dams, as well as the Lok Heng cluster and Bukit Waha in Kota Tinggi.

The operation utilized a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft, which departed from the Subang Air Base and completed its mission in under three hours, targeting the designated zones. Ahmad Zahid attributed the success of the operation to favourable atmospheric conditions that enhanced cloud formation and rainfall.

Close coordination between the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the RMAF, and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) was crucial in ensuring the operation's success. Ahmad Zahid emphasized that this initiative underscores the government's commitment to maintaining the sustainability of national water resources amidst increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.

The Deputy Prime Minister assured that the government will continue monitoring the situation and strengthening efforts to ensure the country's preparedness and water resource management are maintained at optimal levels.
