Coalition Of Youth Wings Hand Memorandum Against Nick Adams’ Nomination As US Ambassador To Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: A coalition of youth wings, including PKR Youth, handed an official memorandum to the United States (US) embassy in Kuala Lumpur to protest the nomination of Nick Adams as US Ambassador to Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, PKR Youth deputy chief Izuan Kassim said that three representatives were allowed into the embassy grounds and were informed that the memorandum would be handed to the US administration for further consideration.

The coalition is seeking that the nomination be withdrawn and a more moderate, professional candidate who respects Malaysia's sensitivities be appointed. Izuan Kassim emphasized that the role of an ambassador is to serve as a bridge between two nations, expressing concerns that Nick Adams might destroy rather than build that bridge.

The memorandum outlines several major reasons for rejecting the nomination, citing divisive rhetoric, Islamophobic views, open support towards Zionism, and sexist statements that do not respect gender equality. These issues, the coalition argues, fail to reflect a balanced and professional diplomatic spirit.

About 100 participants from various backgrounds, representing the voice of Malaysians, including the AMANAH Youth, DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY), IKRAM Muda, and Mahaasiswa AMANAH, were present for the handing over of the memorandum.
