Communications Ministry Plans Expansion of Free e-Tuisyen Rakyat Programme

Inanam:The Communications Ministry is exploring the expansion of the free e-Tuisyen Rakyat programme to enable students with reliable internet access to attend online classes from home. Currently, students must visit National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) to participate in this programme, which offers free online tuition in five subjects.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil stated that efforts are underway to allow students with good internet connectivity to join e-Tuisyen Rakyat classes from home, emphasizing that these programmes are provided free to all Malaysians. Fahmi was speaking at the inauguration of the Inanam Sentral NADI.

The proposed expansion is part of a broader effort to ensure government digital initiatives are accessible to a wider audience, especially students with home internet access. Fahmi highlighted that NADI has evolved from simply providing internet access to becoming community hubs focused on talent development and skills training. This includes initiatives like NADI on Wheels, where managers and assistant managers conduct community programs.

With the opening of Inanam Sentral NADI, the network now includes 1,099 centres across the country, with 132 located in Sabah. The expansion aims to enhance access to education, skills training, employment, and digital economic opportunities, particularly benefiting rural areas.

Fahmi also mentioned the success of the 1 NADI 1 Prompt Engineer programme, which has attracted 1,247 participants nationwide, including 509 from Sabah. Half of the first cohort completed all three training levels, and the programme has reached over 60 percent of its target. These digital skills initiatives are designed to prepare communities for the future economy, including remote work opportunities that allow individuals to earn income without leaving their hometowns.
