Company Boss Arrested Over Forged Document

TAWAU, The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today arrested a company owner on suspicion of submitting a forged document in order to obtain a quote for renovation work and maintenance of two schools worth about RM200,000.

According to a source, the man in his 60s was arrested at about 9 am today when he was summoned to record his statement at the Tawau MACC office here.

“Initial investigations found that the suspect is believed to have committed the act in 2020. He is suspected of using a fake bank statement to obtain quotations for the renovation and maintenance of two schools in the state under the Economic Stimulus Package (PRE),” the source said here today.

Meanwhile, Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 471 of the Penal Code.

He said the suspect would be charged at the Tawau Sessions Court tomorrow.
