Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his regime, which continues to launch attacks on Gaza, as inhumane and beyond the bounds of sanity.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar said violence targeting children, women, hospitals, and schools in the region and various forms of oppression clearly showed that the Zionist regime was willing to use starvation and restrictions on humanitarian aid as weapons of war.
Anwar expressed his disbelief at the cruelty, stating, "I am already 78, but I have never seen, read or heard in this era that there are people so cruel. Netanyahu and his group are truly insane! They even maintain that all the little children (in Gaza) are Hamas... even a two-year-old child running around is accused of being Hamas. This is sick," he said.
He made these remarks during the Keynote Lecture: "Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza pada Malam Himpunan dan Selawat Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza" in conjunction with the Sumud Nusantara Carnival at Dataran Merdeka. The event was attended by several notable figures, including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and other high-ranking officials.
Anwar also criticized Western countries for their silence on the oppression in Gaza, despite their previous stance against occupation. He questioned their acceptance of the ongoing occupation and the killing of civilians, demanding answers beyond the standard response referencing Hamas' attack on Israel.
The Prime Minister highlighted the decades-long oppression by Israel, which has involved the seizure of Palestinian land and the destruction of homes, schools, mosques, and churches. He linked the Palestinian struggle to a broader history of imperialism and colonialism, calling the actions against Palestinians a form of colonialism.
In addition to his remarks, Anwar launched the Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025, which includes a humanitarian flotilla mission to Gaza, involving delegations from several countries in the region.
