Kuala lumpur: Police busted a drug trafficking and processing syndicate allegedly masterminded by two foreign nationals in six raids across the Klang Valley on Sept 10, seizing various types of drugs worth RM35.24 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that the operation was conducted in Ampang, Petaling, Kepong, Brickfields, Subang Jaya, and Sepang. The operation led to the arrest of 11 suspects, comprising six local men, two foreign men, and three foreign women, aged between 25 and 48.

The two foreign men, who hold Australian and Canadian passports respectively, are believed by authorities to have acted as the syndicate's masterminds and chemists. The syndicate is thought to have been active since January. The rented bungalow in Ampang served as a drug processing laboratory, and a raid in Subang Jaya also uncovered drug-processing equipment, indicating preparations for another drug laboratory.

The seized drugs included 344.89kg of methamphetamine powder, 347.15 litres of liquid methamphetamine, 3.84kg of MDMA powder, 630g of Eramin 5 pills, and 20g of cannabis, which could supply an estimated three million users. The drugs were likely intended for both local and international markets.

In addition to the drugs, police seized 11 vehicles, a luxury watch, two ATM cards, RM3,610 in cash, and a .38-calibre revolver. All the items, valued at RM1.79 million, were seized under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988. Five suspects have been remanded for 13 and 14 days until Sept 23 and 24 respectively under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the other six were released on bail to serve as police witnesses.

This operation underscores the JSJN's commitment and enforcement efforts in combating the drug threat. JSJN remains focused on fighting drugs to protect both current and future generations, as drugs are considered the country's number one enemy.
