Ipoh: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized counterfeit pendrives and memory cards worth about RM255,014 in a raid at a premises in the Pengkalan Industrial Estate here, last Wednesday. The ministry’s Perak enforcement director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, stated that a 25-year-old man, who is the manager at the premises, was detained to assist in the investigation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the raid was carried out following a complaint and information from the trademark owner. Preliminary checks by representatives of the trademark owner confirmed that the pendrives and memory cards are counterfeit.
Datuk Kamalludin Ismail mentioned in a statement today that 1,401 pendrives and 7,519 memory cards were seized during the raid. The case is currently being investigated under Section 102(1)(b) of the Trademark Act 2019.
