Crisis In Gaza Highlights Global Order Breakdown, Says Nurul Izzah

Kuala lumpur: The ongoing humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza highlights the breakdown of the international world order and underscores the urgent need to defend multilateralism, stated Polity Malaysia chairperson Nurul Izzah Anwar.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nurul Izzah addressed reporters at the Kuala Lumpur Conference on a New Just and Humane International Order, emphasizing that the international order should serve all nations equitably, rather than catering solely to the powerful. She underscored the necessity for fairness in global political and economic opportunities.

Nurul Izzah remarked that Gaza could be the beginning of a broader collapse of the international order, stressing the importance of defending and championing multilateralism. She emphasized the need to provide a wide range of policy options to Malaysians and highlighted the historical significance of the 1955 Bandung Conference, which advocated for fair treatment and equal opportunities for developing nations.

She also pointed out the inclusion of speakers from different countries, such as Namibia, to emphasize global solidarity and the core mission of international institutions like the United Nations.

Additionally, Jeremy Corbyn, the United Kingdom's Member of Parliament for Islington North, concurred on the necessity of upholding international law to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He stressed the need for accountability for actions considered genocidal and voiced concerns over the ambiguity surrounding Gaza's reconstruction efforts despite a current ceasefire.
