Kuala lumpur: One of the children of former finance minister the late Tun Daim Zainuddin was present at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here today to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation. Asnida Daim, accompanied by her lawyer, was seen arriving at the MACC headquarters compound at 9.50 am following a notice issued recently requiring her attendance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Daim's three other children - Md Wira Dani, Muhammed Amir Zainuddin, and Muhammed Amin Zainuddin - were not present at the MACC headquarters as of 12.30 pm. On February 28, the MACC issued notices to trace the four children after they failed to respond and did not comply with two earlier official notices.
The MACC had previously been reported to have launched 'Op Godfather' following revelations of offshore companies and assets allegedly linked to Daim, his family members, and business associates. The investigation is being conducted under Section 23 and Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009 as well as Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) 2001.
