Kuala lumpur: DAP will table a motion to decide if the party will remain in the government till the end of the current Parliament's term at its National Convention on August 16. According to BERNAMA News Agency, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke announced that this decision was made during the party's central executive committee (CEC) meeting. Loke emphasized the importance of leaving the decision to the over 4,000 qualified delegates attending the National Convention. "We leave it to the wisdom of the over 4,000 delegates that qualify to attend the National Convention to decide whether DAP should remain in the government till the end of term or otherwise," he stated after leading the CEC meeting at the DAP headquarters. The meeting was attended by prominent DAP leaders, including national chairman Gobind Singh Deo, deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh, and other senior party members. Loke clarified that the CEC had not reached an official stance on the motion, as the priority was to encourage delegates t o make independent decisions without guidance from the CEC. "We did discuss the matter, but the CEC will not take any stand. What is important is the delegates' decision," Loke said, affirming the independence granted to delegates to vote on the motion. Additionally, Loke noted that while CEC members held various views, these were personal opinions and did not reflect the party's official position. He reiterated that the decision on the party's role in the government would be determined through a democratic process involving all delegates. "Even though I'm the secretary-general and Gobind is chairman, the decision whether we remain or not in the government will be decided by the delegates as part of the party's collective decision," he concluded.
