Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman Appointed as New MACC Chief Commissioner to Enhance Integrity

Kuala lumpur: The appointment of Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman as the new chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) signifies a profound commitment to uphold the rule of law and enhance public confidence in the institution, as stated by the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the vice-chairman of MCPF, Datuk Seri Dr. King Lim Chin Fui, highlighted that Abdul Halim is expected to lead the MACC with integrity, firm principles, and credible leadership upon assuming his duties on May 13. The public holds high expectations for the MACC, and the new leadership is urged to demonstrate its independence and professionalism through concrete actions rather than mere words.

Efforts to combat corruption must be consistent and fair, avoiding perceptions of selective prosecution. Each case should be evaluated based on facts and evidence, independent of the individuals' background, position, or influence. Corruption is not only a legal issue but also impacts governance, investor confidence, and national development. MCPF is committed to collaborating with MACC to strengthen public awareness, integrity education, and prevention efforts, particularly among the younger generation.

The public desires clear actions, transparent investigations, and outcomes that reflect justice and courage. When the MACC conducts open investigations and takes decisive action, public confidence in the institution will be restored. The Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, previously announced that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, had consented to Abdul Halim's appointment as the new MACC chief commissioner, effective May 13.
