Davao city: The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) confiscated over PHP4.8 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations it conducted from Sept. 21 to 27, according to a report on Tuesday. Col. Mannan Muarip, acting chief of the DCPO, said the weeklong campaign included 39 anti-drug operations, which resulted in the arrest of 51 suspects.
According to Philippines News Agency, seized items included 707.118 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) valued at PHP4.8 million, and 96 suspected ecstasy tablets valued at PHP163,200. "DCPO remains unwavering in its mission to protect the city with the active support of the community and barangay officials," Muarip said.
He also reported progress in the fight against illegal gambling. During the same period, 18 individuals were apprehended in 10 operations, which resulted in the confiscation of PHP9,115 in bet money and the filing of 10 cases.
Additionally, 38 operations against wanted persons resulted in the arrest of 38 individuals, including 18 who were on the most wanted list. "These achievements reflect not only the dedication of the men and women of the DCPO but also the strong partnership with the community, barangay officials, and the local government unit," Muarip said.
