Kuala pilah: The action taken by Datuk Mubarak Dohak in signing and reading a declaration to depose His Royal Highness Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, has been deemed unacceptable and unrecognized.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun stated that Mubarak no longer holds any authority as the Undang Luak Sungei Ujong. This action conflicts with Articles 10 to 12 of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution (UUTKNS) 1959. Mubarak's dismissal as Datuk Klana Petra Luak Sungei Ujong was executed on May 13, 2025, following the customs of the Telaga Undang, Waris Klana Hulu, Sungei Ujong.
Aminuddin mentioned that the Special Sitting of the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) Negeri Sembilan held on April 17 agreed to advise and accept the consensus that dismissed Mubarak as the 10th Datuk Klana Petra Luak Sungei Ujong. This decision aligns with Clause 14(3) of the state constitution, citing 33 offenses related to the customs and traditions.
He clarified that the DKU Negeri Sembilan serves as an advisory body on Malay customs, including the appointment and removal of the four Undang Luak, as per Article 16 of the UUTKNS. Matters concerning the dismissal of an Undang Luak must adhere to the customs of his luak, pursuant to Clause 14(3) of the UUTKNS.
Aminuddin also noted that the DKU's acceptance of the dismissal of a Datuk Undang Luak has precedent, referencing the 14th Undang Luak Johol, Datuk Mohammad Jan Abdul Ghani, who was dismissed on March 27, 2016, for similar offenses.
The DKU recently accepted Mubarak's dismissal during a special sitting presided over by Tuanku Muhriz, where Clause 24 of the state constitution was invoked to invite the Ibu Soko Klana Hulu and the Waris Klana Hulu to attend.
