The high court here: has ordered former senator Datuk Seri Daljit Singh to pay Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din a total of RM275,000 for defaming the executive vice-chairman of Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a judgment delivered on July 30, Judge Roz Mawar Rozain ordered Daljit to pay Mohamad Salim, who is also the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman, damages amounting to RM100,000. In addition to the damages, Daljit, who serves as the People's Progressive Party (PPP) treasurer general, has been ordered to repay a loan of RM100,000 to Mohamad Salim. The court also instructed Daljit to cover RM75,000 in costs related to the two suits.

Furthermore, the court issued an injunction to prevent Daljit from making similar defamatory statements against Mohamad Salim in the future. Counsel Harjinder Singh, representing Daljit, confirmed the court's decision when contacted.
