Putrajaya: The delineation exercise between Putrajaya and Selangor is nearing completion and is anticipated to be finalized by the end of this year, according to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. "So far, the delineation process in Putrajaya is nearly completed, involving areas such as Sepang and Kuala Langat. However, areas near Kuala Lumpur like Ampang, Petaling Jaya, and Subang will require more time due to the complexity of the delineation exercise," he stated following the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Teacher's Day celebration.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin commented after a meeting with a delegation led by him and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa at Menara Seri Wilayah, Putrajaya. During the meeting, Dr Zaliha highlighted the importance of resolving the delineation between Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, as well as Putrajaya and Selangor, to ensure integrated border enforcement.
Amirudin mentioned that the Selangor government requested that 10 percent of an Islamic cemetery land area in Hulu Semenyih, owned by the Federal Lands Commissioner, be made available for local residents wishing to be buried there. He hopes this will address cemetery land management issues under federal administration but located near Selangor residential areas.
Dr Zaliha noted that a new Islamic cemetery in Hulu Semenyih could fulfill the need for Muslim cemeteries in Kuala Lumpur for the next 28 years. Meanwhile, Amirudin remarked that the proposal to raise the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65 is still in its preliminary stages and requires further examination. This comes after Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said suggested the government consider this change.
