Desaru Coast:A RM10 million karting circuit is set to open at Desaru Coast by the end of 2026, marking the region's expansion beyond traditional beach and resort attractions. This project aims to draw motorsport enthusiasts, families, and sports lovers to the area.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Singapore-based Arina International Holding Pte Ltd is executing the project using a lease-and-build investment model. The development will introduce a karting experience of international standards at Riverside, enhancing Desaru Coast's status as a sports and leisure destination.

Construction has begun on the new facility, which will be the cornerstone of The Sports Arina, a sports and leisure complex for adults and children. The facility will boast a competitive karting circuit with professional-grade karts, a timing system, and a KF Kiddy Circuit for children aged four to 12.

Visitors to Desaru Coast can also enjoy spectator seating, dining areas, and merchandise outlets. Additionally, the area will expand its racquet-sports offerings, with three outdoor pickleball courts already open and more planned, alongside upcoming padel facilities.

Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn Bhd CEO Izrin Hashim highlighted the private sector's confidence in Desaru Coast's evolution into a destination offering diverse experiences. He emphasized the area's potential to host large-scale sporting events and activities, which the new developments will support.

The karting circuit will cater to recreational drivers, corporate groups, and motorsport enthusiasts with race packages and organized events. The children's circuit will offer a safe introduction to karting, with individual sessions and birthday packages available.

Arina International chairman Richard Tan noted that Desaru Coast's accessibility and established tourism infrastructure made it an ideal location for the karting facility. He expressed confidence in attracting both recreational drivers and experienced enthusiasts from Malaysia and Singapore, enhancing the overall experience with a comprehensive ecosystem of hospitality and leisure activities.
