Kota damansara: The proposed data centre project in Kota Damansara has been shelved after the developer withdrew its planning permission application from the Petaling Jaya City Council.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, who also serves as the Human Resources Minister, announced the recent development, emphasizing the power of public voices when expressed through appropriate channels. Ramanan highlighted that this outcome demonstrates the impact that community concerns can have on decision-making processes.
Ramanan reiterated his position on development, stating that while he supports growth and investment, it is crucial for large-scale projects to consider the lives of local residents. He emphasized the importance of community involvement and the responsibility of elected representatives to ensure that public concerns are addressed. He remarked, "We cannot compromise when it comes to the welfare of the people."
On July 17, Ramanan had publicly opposed the data centre project, criticizing the lack of engagement with Kota Damansara residents. He advocated for transparent and responsible development practices that involve local community input and assess the potential impact on surroundings.
Furthermore, Ramanan stressed that future development applications in Sungai Buloh should prioritize engagement sessions with residents and stakeholders. He affirmed his commitment to monitoring the situation and ensuring that the interests of Kota Damansara residents are safeguarded, maintaining that development and investment must align with public welfare.
