Development Projects Nationwide Implemented Based on People’s Needs: Fadillah

Putrajaya: Development projects nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak, are being implemented based on actual needs to ensure that the benefits are felt by the people as a whole, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He emphasized that the implementation of projects under the MADANI Government prioritizes the needs of the people over political considerations, ensuring that targeted groups receive the intended benefits.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah stated that the approach to development is based entirely on the needs of each region or state, focusing on identifying the intended beneficiaries. He addressed misconceptions about development being politically driven during a forum titled 'Kerajaan MADANI - Retrospektif dan Memeta Perjalanan ke Hadapan' held as part of the 2025 National Convention on Public Service Reform.

The Rancakkan MADANI programme, held at Dataran Putrajaya over three days, was organized by the Prime Minister's Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit. Fadillah highlighted that the government is also implementing targeted subsidies, including for chicken and egg prices, electricity tariffs, and fuel, saving approximately RM15.5 billion annually. These savings are redirected to cash aid, education, health sectors, and public infrastructure.

Fadillah also outlined the government's commitment to advancing Malaysia into the digital era, particularly through AI and semiconductor technology, with approved investments for 2024 reaching RM378.5 billion. This sector is expected to create over 207,000 jobs, supporting economic growth and increasing income levels.

Looking ahead, Fadillah mentioned that from 2026, the focus would shift to the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), emphasizing an economy based on value creation, sustainability, and inclusivity. This plan involves comprehensive reforms driven by collaboration between the civil service and the public, aiming for Malaysia to become a developed nation with a sustainable economy and high quality of life.

Fadillah also noted Malaysia's strong diplomatic role in hosting the 47th ASEAN Summit, which has elevated the country's international standing.
