Kuala lumpur: The Dewan Rakyat has approved the motion on the Auditor-General's Report 1/2026 concerning the Financial Statements of Federal Agencies for 2024. The report identified 273 new issues related to financial management and governance at both federal and state levels.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the motion, introduced by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, received majority support after a debate involving 35 MPs. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, during the debate's conclusion, noted that the Lot 61 Bangsar Development Project, which faced a 1,731-day delay and cost increases, had gained conditional approval for a partial Certificate of Completion and Compliance for its parking facility operations.
Fadillah explained that the Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad project received conditional approval yesterday and was awaiting confirmation from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall's One Stop Centre. He attributed the increased construction costs to an expanded project scope, including additional parking, part of Tower 3, and infrastructure works like an underpass. Market instability during the project's execution also led to higher material costs and additional technical solutions on-site.
Further resolution measures involved discussions between PHB and DBKL to delay underpass construction and widen the access road from Jalan Bangsar to Jalan Maarof to enhance traffic flow temporarily.
Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu highlighted that PR1MA Malaysia has implemented financial monitoring to ensure loan repayment continuity. This includes cash flow assessments and debt repayment analysis to mitigate payment default risks, alongside exploring staggered principal repayment structures.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Chan Foong Hin assured that there was no leakage in MARDI's development allocations during the 12th Malaysia Plan. The funds were used for specific project expenditures, such as research data collection and technology transfer activities.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang clarified that the MyDigital ID project governance and procurement remained intact despite audit remarks on RM28.13 million expenditures. These issues arose from committee structure changes, leading to inconsistencies in project decision-making. The project has achieved 9.7 million registrations and integration with 92 applications across sectors.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department M. Kulasegaran noted that the MyDigital ID project is still under implementation, allowing the National Audit Department to conduct a comprehensive audit anytime. Kulasegaran also mentioned that the audit report on the Legal Profession Qualifying Board's financial statements is set for LKAN 1/2027.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting is scheduled to continue tomorrow.
