Digital Platforms and Arts Integration Essential for National Progress – Gobind

Kuala lumpur: The arts and digital platforms should be combined and developed together as a vital catalyst to drive all aspects of life, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said. He emphasized the role of the Malay language as a unifying force in the country and highlighted theatre as a medium that can showcase moral values, critical thinking, and creativity, especially among the youth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind noted the transition from traditional event settings to digital platforms, expressing confidence that this shift will support future development. "Let it inspire us to use our language and the arts in our country," he remarked to reporters after attending the 2025 national level Tamil School Malay language theatre competition presentation ceremony at Balai Budaya Tun Syed Nasir, Wisma Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.

The competition involved 800 pupils from 80 Tamil national type schools nationwide, with 47 schools reaching the screening stage. The top 10 schools competed for the national championship title. Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Batu Anam in Johor won the championship with their performance 'Suara Hati', receiving a challenge trophy and RM5,000 in cash. SJKT Slim River in Perak and SJKT Jalan Lobak, Negeri Sembilan secured the second and third positions, respectively.

SJKT Batu Anam Tamil teacher, Karthik Selva Kumaran, shared insights on the preparation, revealing that training involved three months of script writing and rehearsals. He mentioned, "In terms of the title selection, we really did focus on current issues. We know that AI (artificial intelligence) is developing in our country and the world, so we presented the AI topic in our drama."
