Cyberjaya: Global cloud- and carrier-neutral data centre platform Digital Realty has announced its establishment in Malaysia and plans to develop and scale approximately 32 megawatts (MW) of data centre capacity to support the country's growing digital infrastructure needs. Its managing director and head of Asia Pacific, Serene Nah, highlighted that the US-based company's presence in Malaysia marks a key milestone in its Asia Pacific expansion, integrating Malaysia into a global platform designed for interconnection, resilience, and scale.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Digital Realty is establishing a multi-site data centre campus in Cyberjaya. The campus includes KUL10, formerly known as TelcoHub 1, one of Malaysia's most highly connected and carrier-dense data centres. KUL11, located 500 meters away, is a purpose-built 15 MW facility designed to support artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. Digital Realty also plans for a future expansion site that will add another 14 MW, targeted for completion in mid-2028, and is exploring other sites for further expansion.
The launch event, officiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, showcased the assets that will form a highly connected platform. This platform will be supported by more than 40 network service providers, alongside a robust ecosystem of cloud and connectivity partners. These developments are expected to establish the foundation of Digital Realty's growing platform in Malaysia, enabling enterprises, including cloud and digital businesses, to deploy and scale infrastructure within a globally connected data community.
Serene Nah emphasized that by integrating its Cyberjaya facilities into the company's PlatformDIGITAL global data centre platform and enabling interconnection through the ServiceFabric suite of solutions, Digital Realty will support distributed, AI and data-intensive workloads. This will require low-latency, high-performance connectivity across markets. Customers in Malaysia will be able to gradually connect to Digital Realty's global ecosystem of more than 300 data centres across over 30 countries, enabling low-latency connectivity and seamless workload deployment across key regional hubs, including Singapore and Jakarta.
