Perak: The performance of 829 Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) chairmen, also known as village heads, across 12 districts in Perak will undergo evaluation by respective district officers. This assessment is crucial to determine whether their services will be renewed or concluded as their terms are set to end on May 31.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad outlined several criteria that will guide the evaluation process. Key among them are age and health considerations as stipulated by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW). The guidelines specify that a village head may only serve until the age of 65. Additionally, serious health issues that impede a village head's ability to perform duties will necessitate a replacement.
Expressing hopes for continuity, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad stated, "We hope those reappointed will continue to drive the state's development agenda. Those who are not appointed should not be disheartened...continue to contribute and give ideas."
The announcement was made during the 'Desa Sejahtera and Sejati MADANI' award-giving ceremony, attended by State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building. At the event, Kampung Jaya Setia from the Kuala Kangsar district was honored with the 2024 Sejati MADANI Award, which includes a trophy and an RM100,000 allocation for infrastructure projects. Meanwhile, Kampung Telaga Nenas from the Manjung district received the 2024 Perak Desa Sejahtera title, along with a trophy and RM10,000.
