DPM Ahmad Zahid Inspired by 89-Year-Old Dodol Entrepreneur’s Success

The story of a resilient 89-year-old single mother: Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, expressed hope that the success story of the woman affectionately known as Chik Ah would serve as a source of inspiration for the community, particularly rural entrepreneurs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, in a Facebook post, noted that he read a report about Chik Ah highlighted by BERNAMA and was reminded of her through a handwritten letter he received, which was accompanied by her handmade dodol. He expressed hope that her story inspires everyone to continue appreciating and supporting the efforts of local entrepreneurs, especially those in rural areas.

Previously, the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) reported on Chik Ah's perseverance in raising 10 children while operating a traditional food business, which has now become the primary source of income for her family. Her product, "Dodol Lemak Manis Memikat Cik Ah," has remained a favorite among the local community for nearly five decades, especially during festive seasons, and is frequently served at social gatherings or bought as souvenirs.

She is among 178 Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) entrepreneurs in Perak who received grant assistance and is also noted as the most active entrepreneur in generating income from dodol products.
