Kuala lumpur: All allocations under Budget 2026 must be optimised to ensure they truly achieve their objectives, particularly in safeguarding the well-being of the people, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He emphasised the importance of synergy between all agencies under the federal and state governments to achieve this goal.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stressed the necessity of effective implementation of projects and programmes under Budget 2026 according to the specified timeline, scope of work, and allocated budget. He highlighted the need for proper monitoring to ensure that the allocated funds are spent appropriately. Fadillah expressed concern over instances where funds have been allocated but not fully utilised, which undermines the intended goals and objectives.
The announcement followed the tabling of Budget 2026 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, themed Fourth MADANI Budget: A Budget for the People. The budget allocates RM470 billion, focusing on driving national economic growth and ensuring equitable distribution of the country's wealth among all segments of society.
Anwar detailed that the budget comprises RM338.2 billion in operating expenditure and RM81 billion in development expenditure. Additionally, it includes RM30 billion in government-linked investment company investments, RM10 billion in public-private investments, and RM10.8 billion in investments by federal statutory bodies and Minister of Finance Incorporated companies.
Budget 2026 is the fourth budget tabled by the MADANI Government led by Anwar and the first under the 13th Malaysia Plan. It serves as the main foundation for implementing the national development plan over the next five years.
