Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed his condolences over the passing of former transport minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, describing it as a great loss to the nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid highlighted that the late leader would be remembered as a figure who served with dedication, particularly in developing the country's transport sector and strengthening educational institutions that continue to benefit present generations.
Ahmad Zahid noted that Dr Ling had demonstrated deep commitment and love for the country and the party, especially during his time in Barisan Nasional (BN). 'His (Dr Ling's) services and contributions will remain etched in history and be remembered by all Malaysians,' he remarked.
He extended his prayers to the family of the late Dr Ling, hoping they are granted strength and resilience in facing this moment of sorrow, adding that the nation mourns with them. The former MCA honorary life president, Dr Ling, passed away this morning at the age of 82.
Dr Ling was among the longest-serving veteran politicians in the Cabinet, known for his significant contributions during his tenure.
