EAIC Uncovers Procedural Breach by Immigration Officer in Malaysia

Bukit kayu hitam: An Immigration officer at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration Office in Kedah has been alleged to have breached procedures regarding the entry of passport holders from African countries into Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has highlighted that paragraph 4.1 of the Malaysian Immigration Circular (PIM) No. 19 of 2002 stipulates that passport holders from African countries are permitted entry into Malaysia solely through air gates. However, an investigation has uncovered that Ghanaian nationals were allowed entry through the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration Office in Kedah on November 18 of the previous year.

In light of these findings, the EAIC has decided to forward the case to the Malaysian Immigration Department's (JIM) Disciplinary Authority. The EAIC recommends taking disciplinary action against the officer involved under Regulation 38 of the Public Servants (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 [P.U. (A) 395/1993]. The investigation into this breach was initiated based on a filed complaint.
