Kota kinabalu: The Election Commission (EC) is set to convene a special meeting to deliberate on key dates for the forthcoming 17th Sabah Legislative Assembly election. The announcement follows the recent dissolution of the 16th Assembly.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the EC has stated that the date for this special meeting will be disclosed in due course. The EC's readiness to conduct the election is in accordance with Article 21 Clause (4) of the Sabah State Constitution, ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The decision to dissolve the 16th Sabah Legislative Assembly was made by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who confirmed that the dissolution received the consent of the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Musa Aman. This move sets the stage for the upcoming 17th state election, marking a significant moment in Sabah's political landscape.
