Education Minister Emphasizes Multiracial Unity Through Petah Competition

Putrajaya:The Ministry of Education's Petah competition is being highlighted by Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek as a critical platform for promoting unity among Malaysia's younger generation through multiracial participation in each team. This initiative aligns with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations, aiming to reflect the nation's diversity and foster the spirit of unity among Malaysians.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina stressed the importance of ensuring the competition not only serves as a means to hone talents and language skills but also as a representation of unity. She emphasized that each team should include multiracial representation to showcase the Malaysia MADANI concept. Her remarks came after attending the Petah KPM programme.

Petah KPM 2026 supports the Upholding the Malay Language and Strengthening the English Language (MBMMBI) policy, which aims for proficiency in both languages to promote fluent and polite communication across different races. The event is being held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre until October 15 and involves the entire education ecosystem in promoting language practices at a national level.

Fadhlina noted positive developments in this year's competition, particularly in the quality and use of Malay and English. She highlighted the exceptional talent displayed by participants in the debate finals, which demonstrated their ability to master communication skills and argue effectively.

At the event, Pahang was declared the champion of the 2026 Education Minister's Cup MADANI Generation Debate Competition in the English category, with Putrajaya as runners-up. Kedah won the Malay Language category, while Selangor took second place. In addition to the debates, Petah KPM 2026 will host sixteen other language-based competitions, including public speaking, oratory, and choral speaking.
